SEA ISLAND COTTON —

From the sun of the Caribbean, we procure for you the most precious cotton in the world to create our collection of luxury essentials. West Indian Sea Island cotton, known as ‘gossypium barbadense’ or ‘black seed’ is one of the most ancient and precious cotton types in the world, discovered in the early eighteenth century in the British west indies.

Its production is now concentrated mainly in Barbados and Jamaica, areas that constitute a true paradise climate. About 110 million bales of cotton are produced each year, globally, of which just two million are extra-long staple cotton. The annual production of sea island cotton is just 150 bales, making it the rarest and most valuable cotton in the world.

Just imagine: sea island cotton is so rare that even if we could purchase the entire annual supply for a couple of years, we would only be able to create just 114,750 fitted shirts and 182,550 t-shirts.

In other words, with a global population of 7.674 billion, that means only 1 person out of every 66,875 people would ever be able to own a single sea island cotton shirt, or 1 person out of 42,037 people could have a sea island cotton t-shirt.

If each customer has 1 fitted shirt and 1 t-shirt, that is less than 1 in 100’000 people who could benefit from that possibility.

Sea island cotton is distinguished from all other species of cotton thanks to its unique characteristics: the considerable staple length of the fiber, arriving up to +60 mm — the longest in the world!— the high strength, and the great percentage of uniformity. Besides the length, the fiber is exceptionally fine, together with a significant brightness.

The cultivation of sea island cotton follows a particular process. The seeds are carefully selected to ensure the highest quality and sowing is done mechanically in an extremely regular way.
Irrigation takes place mainly naturally, through the heavy rains.

The organization responsible, Wisica (West Indian Sea Island cotton association), inspects every kilo of cotton produced locally and issues the certificate of authenticity for yarns marked sea island guaranteeing the purity of this precious raw material.

From sea island cotton are obtained fabrics that are silky to touch, able to revive and improve with each wash and are cool like an island’s sea breeze – the regular and constantly intense breezes that caress the warm Caribbean islands.

UNCOMPROMISING CASHMERE —

Only cashmere that reaches the highest standards of excellence is selected to be transformed into LMH cashmere – staying true to our mantra that you deserve only the best the world has to offer.

On the eternal desert of china and the windblown uplands of mongolia lives the Capra Hircus, a small but hardy animal known for producing a genuine treasure of nature.

The environment where the goats live requires them to grow a fleece that provides both warmth and protection. Their outer coat shields against rain, sun, and dust, and beneath is a soft under fleece which acts as a layer of insulation. This is the most precious part of the fleece, known as cashmere. Once every spring, when the climate is milder and the animals naturally shed their coats, the goat herders harvest the cashmere. The procedure is carried out by gently combing the goat, gathering the delicate under fleece without causing any harm to the animal.

The annual production of each Capra Hircus is around 250 grams which, after removing the coarser outer fibers, is reduced to no more than 150 grams of precious raw material. That is why our cashmere is so luxurious; each small batch of sublime fibers is the result of a natural process comprising hard work, patience, and passion and perfection.

We select only the very best cashmere from northern china and mongolia. Every bale is meticulously checked, dehaired and washed before being shipped to Italy for subsequent analysis and quality control. Only the cashmere that reaches the highest standard of excellence is then transformed into superior quality knitwear, garments and accessories, all of which are produced through a combination of sophisticated technology, a profound knowledge of textiles, and a lifelong commitment to perfection.

Our cashmere has an almost silky feel and is outstandingly fine, measuring around 15 microns for adult cashmere. Thanks to the natural structure of the fiber, our cashmere possesses incredibly insulating properties. The air trapped in the tiny spaces between the fibers forms a natural barrier that helps contain body heat and prevent cold from reaching the skin. The finer the fibers, the greater the insulation.

Wearing our cashmere truly is an incomparable experience. With exceptional fineness, softness, lightness and warmth, garments crafted from our cashmere are ideal for use in winter and in the transitional seasons, as well as on cool summer nights.
